New Year Resolutions

December 26, 2025Self-Improvement

With the new year coming up, it's time to think about what I want to accomplish and change in the upcoming year. A lot of things have changed for me this year, and I've already made strides at becoming a better person. In 2026 I plan on carrying the momentum.

Reasoning Behind the Resolutions

This past year, I have dialed in my sleep schedule (much to the influence of Bryan Johnson) and also resolved to no longer tell lies.

I plan on continuing these habits in 2026, as well as refine my diet and workout routines. If you can improve your health, so many things in your life will improve as well. I'd argue that everything will improve from better health.

I read Waking up, a Guide to Spirituality without Religion by Sam Harris and it makes me want to meditate more. I want to meditate every day next year, and aim at the ambitious goal of meditating for one hour every day.

Soda has been a vice of mine for a long time. I have been able to cut it out many times, but I always end up coming back. The goal is to go the entire year without soda. This is going to be a rough start to the year, because I am going on a 30 hour road trip, where we drive from Utah to Georgia straight. I am probably going to drink lots of soda and energy drinks to fuel my mind during that, and the caffeine withdrawals will not be enjoyable.

I also enjoy reading a lot, I probably don't need a goal for this, but I'll make one anyway. Read 20 books in 2026. This is less about reading, and more about making sure that I report what I read and track it.

Goals in short

  • No screens after 9pm
  • Read 20 books
  • In bed, lights off at 10pm
  • No soda
  • No junk food

Conclusion

2026 will be a great year, it will be even better if I can follow through with these goals. I'll report back on progress at least once a month.
